Fall Risk Reduction Class Coming to Carthage
Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Panola County,
in partnership with East Texas Area Agency on Aging, are pleased to announce
that “A Matter of Balance” is returning to Carthage this spring. This 8-week
course is evidence-based and designed to reduce the risk of falls in older
adults.
Each session is taught by trained facilitators from Texas
A&M AgriLife Extension and East Texas Area Agency on Aging. The eight
sessions discuss various factors contributing to falls such as environmental
hazards, fall-ty habits, physical fitness and concerns about falling.
Classes will be held from 9:30-11:00 a.m. on Wednesdays from
April 10-May 29, with an orientation being held the same time on April 3rd. Central
Baptist Church, at 220 W. Sabine St. in Carthage, is hosting the series in
their Family Life Center. The program is free of charge and open to all older
adults or those interested in fall prevention.
